12 Most Popular Flower Bouquets

Sending a flower bouquet to a loved one can be a tricky thing. Often times, we’re not sure which flower bouquet to send or pick. When that happens, sometimes there’s no harm in choosing a safe bet from a list of 12 most popular flower bouquets. We’re sure there’s good reason why these bouquets made it to the list.

Read on to find out which bouquets made the top 12 most popular flower bouquet list!

1. Rose Bouquet

Red Rose Bouquets

It’s no surprise that rose bouquets are at the top of the list. A symbol of romance and love, roses are often given as expressions of one’s endearing love for another. There’s something classic about a beautifully curated hand bouquet that’s full of blooming roses which is bound to make your loved one who’s receiving the bouquet smile. Today’s bouquet, roses have been crafted to make them more unique – in some occasions, roses are dyed with interesting colours, multi-layered colours, florescent pigmented dye/spray that make rose glows in the dark and spreading or partially peeling down the outer petals of roses for them to look more glorious, a method knows as ‘reflex’.

Blue Rose Bouquet

Blue has always been the colour of desire, love, and inspiration. That is perhaps why it is one of roses’ popular colour. Blue roses are not typically organically grown from the ground unlike most other rose colours – to obtain their pigmented blue petals, some form of colour dye-ing process is required or they are chemically treated with approved floral spray.

Today, there is a variety of ‘blue’ or ‘multicoloured’ rose bouquets, they come not just in a variety of blue hues such as French blue, ice blue, larkspur, tiffany blue and many colours but the method the pigment is treated onto the flowers eg. the fading blueish petals or soft pastel paddle pop colour that looks as good to eat.

Meaningful Ways to Give Flowers

At some point in time in most romantic relationships, there will be a bouquet of flowers involved. Yet because it is such a mainstay in relationships, we also want to be careful to avoid it becoming viewed as an obligation. Buying flowers is a simple act that doesn’t take much to execute – anyone with spare cash can do it. However, to make your bouquet stand out from the rest, it isn’t more cash that you need, but a thoughtful mind and a bucketful of sincerity. Today we share our two cents worth on what could help you level up your bouquet and re-instill meaning into flower giving. To do so, we shall split the methods into – occasion, delivery, flowers, and associated gifts.

Occasion

Bouquet of Flowers

By far the best occasion to give is when there’s no occasion at all. Unexpected gifts are the most well-received because the receiver’s expectations are at zero, and with just a simple bouquet, the happiness counter can probably shoot through the roof. Whereas on special occasions, there’s probably already a baseline level of expectation about receiving a gift. Hence to receive flowers on a special occasion becomes a fulfilment of that expectation and not nearly as exciting as receiving a surprise bouquet. A surprise bouquet could be inferred in many ways, but the most common of which would be that you have been thinking of that person (regularly) and wanted to show that you care. With such sweet connotations, a surprise bouquet can melt even the hardiest of flower critics.

How flowers can boost mental health

flower basket

With having had to bring everything online, our liberty to leave the house however and whenever we want restricted, and our heightened stress over falling sick becoming a default part of life, many have witnessed their mental health taking a toll over the past 2 years of living through the COVID-19 pandemic. It has not been an easy journey for anyone and perhaps this has been mostly compounded by the enforcement of social distancing or stay home notices – relationships with family and friends become harder to maintain, and overall, we come face to face with a sense of isolation and uncertainty. The human connections which may have once grounded us in ensuring our mental wellness has never felt more difficult to come by.

And so this leaves me to wonder: What are some ways that could help me and my loved ones cope with this new normal? How can each of us, in our own little ways, help boost others’ mental health in these difficult times? I would like to propose using flowers as one possible medium to work past the social restrictions and stress.

My First Bouquet of Flowers

There’s a scene in No Strings Attached which I often go back to whenever I’m in need of some rom-com goodness. In this bit, Emma, a headstrong doctor who disdains romance makes it very clear that she does not want flowers on her first date with Adam, a young chap who is head over heels in love with her. As instructed, Adam does not show up with flowers. Instead, the well-decked lad presents a carrot bouquet and cheekily says, “you said no flowers.” Emma chuckles and is undeniably impressed. Look close enough and you can even see her fierce exterior crack for a split second as she coyly breaks into a blush. A genuine and common reaction upon receiving a flower delivery or in this case a carrot delivery.

Graduation Bouquet

When graduation comes to mind, many would imagine themselves decked in stunning graduation mortar boards and gowns; striding onstage to receive their hard-won certificates. This is sometimes followed by the soft, resonant thrum of a cello, and peals of applause. While for some, this celebration simply marks the end of a chapter.

Regardless of our perceptions, most would agree that this event bears much significance. This is especially so, when one thrives in an academic-centric society like Singapore. We have to bear with its implications: the pressure to do well, the impending exams, the frequent burning of the midnight oil… and so much more. Also, for many, the grind never stops. Hence, it is no wonder why graduation is welcomed with open arms, as the grand finale of a long ordeal.

Graduation Bouquet

Presently, one is considered lucky to have a graduation ceremony, let alone a physical one, though. Due to the COVID-19 situation, attendees have had their convocations cancelled and/or postponed. Alas, attempts to curb and fight the spread of the virus have come with a great cost.

Delineating the ‘work’ from the ‘home’ with flowers

With the work from home mandate back in action, we thought this would be a timely article to help us spruce up our work (and home) environment and make the next few weeks as enjoyable as it could be.

Now that work and rest are forced to be within the same space, it is actually quite important that we learn how to segregate these two realms properly, so that we can create an optimal environment for each activity and do our best at both.

This segregation could take the form of an actual demarcation if you’ve got the space for it, but we understand that majority of us just haven’t got the room to create two separate environments for work and rest. As such, one way to work around having just one space, is to create different set-ups for work and rest, such that we gradually learn to condition our minds to associate each set-up to its intended activity and concentrate on that activity only. Creating associations between the environment and the task is a good way to teach ourselves to be fully present in the intended activity, which is one way to set ourselves up for success regardless of which activity we are doing.

All You Need to Know About Baby’s Breath Bouquet

Baby’s Breath Bouquet

A flower so gentile and fragile. Simple yet majestic. A cluster of long straight stems that branch out to show off tiny white buds of flowers that, together, form a lacy cloud. With the rise in popularity of the concept of Cottagecore (romanticised agricultural lifestyle), Baby’s Breath flowers are here to stay as a crowd favourite. Especially with its versatile nature, the flower gives much room for artistic freedom. Its simplicity allows it to be a great bouquet filler – it provides the bouquet with good volume while allowing the main flowers to shine. It is also intricate enough to be the main star of the show. Baby’s breath bouquets are certainly one of florists’ more  popular flower delivery in Singapore. Apart from bouquets, it is also easy to dry and preserve these flowers for different pieces of artwork such as simple bookmarks to larger items like resin jewellery. There is just no limit to what we can do with these flowers.

Mother’s Day in Singapore – Making it just a little more special

mothers day flowers
mother’s day flowers

As Mother’s Day approaches us once again this year, on the Second Sunday of May, do we ever stop to wonder: what is the ‘true’ meaning of celebrating Mother’s Day? How is it traditionally celebrated and how may we celebrate it in our own ways?

In the UK, the English celebrate Mothering Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Lent. Back in the 1700s, house servants were encouraged to return to their hometowns to spend time with their mothers— a custom that was inspired by an even earlier custom that involved people going back to the first church they had ever attended, or their “mothering” church. Today, still steeped in religion, many churches will give children daffodils for them to give to their mothers.

Meanwhile, in Ethiopia, daughters will prepare vegetables and cheese, while the sons prepare meat for the annual meal and celebration. This celebration is vibrant, and even includes singing, dancing, and story-telling!

Here in Singapore, the most popular method of spending Mother’s Day is to treat mum to a nice meal out, complete with delicious and decadent food in her favourite cuisine and often times gifts of flowers. For those who are not able to be with their mothers this year, there are always the florists who are able to send your message of love on your behalf. Mothers day Singapore delivery has become increasing popular especially during the pandemic, where large gatherings are not permitted.

According to a study conducted, after family, friends, and eulogy, flowers rank first among those who have lost a family member or friend as the most meaningful aspect of funerals. Furthermore, at a time of loss, recipients rank flowers and sympathy cards as the most meaningful of gifts. Those surveyed believe fresh flowers are a critical component of funerals, providing a necessary diversion, something to talk about, and a bright environment at a sombre time.

Asked to identify gifts and memorials that helped a great deal with grief, a majority of surveyed respondents named flowers. Respondents also agreed strongly that looking at the messages written in cards and who the condolence flowers are from is comforting.
