All You Need to Know About Baby’s Breath Bouquet

Baby’s Breath Bouquet

A flower so gentile and fragile. Simple yet majestic. A cluster of long straight stems that branch out to show off tiny white buds of flowers that, together, form a lacy cloud. With the rise in popularity of the concept of Cottagecore (romanticised agricultural lifestyle), Baby’s Breath flowers are here to stay as a crowd favourite. Especially with its versatile nature, the flower gives much room for artistic freedom. Its simplicity allows it to be a great bouquet filler – it provides the bouquet with good volume while allowing the main flowers to shine. It is also intricate enough to be the main star of the show. Baby’s breath bouquets are certainly one of florists’ more  popular flower delivery in Singapore. Apart from bouquets, it is also easy to dry and preserve these flowers for different pieces of artwork such as simple bookmarks to larger items like resin jewellery. There is just no limit to what we can do with these flowers.

Mother’s Day in Singapore – Making it just a little more special

mothers day flowers
mother’s day flowers

As Mother’s Day approaches us once again this year, on the Second Sunday of May, do we ever stop to wonder: what is the ‘true’ meaning of celebrating Mother’s Day? How is it traditionally celebrated and how may we celebrate it in our own ways?

In the UK, the English celebrate Mothering Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Lent. Back in the 1700s, house servants were encouraged to return to their hometowns to spend time with their mothers— a custom that was inspired by an even earlier custom that involved people going back to the first church they had ever attended, or their “mothering” church. Today, still steeped in religion, many churches will give children daffodils for them to give to their mothers.

Meanwhile, in Ethiopia, daughters will prepare vegetables and cheese, while the sons prepare meat for the annual meal and celebration. This celebration is vibrant, and even includes singing, dancing, and story-telling!

Here in Singapore, the most popular method of spending Mother’s Day is to treat mum to a nice meal out, complete with delicious and decadent food in her favourite cuisine and often times gifts of flowers. For those who are not able to be with their mothers this year, there are always the florists who are able to send your message of love on your behalf. Mothers day Singapore delivery has become increasing popular especially during the pandemic, where large gatherings are not permitted.

Inspirational Quotes about flowers

Flowers are nature’s free gifts to us – a gift full of beauty, wonder and wisdom, but only visible to the ones who are willing to appreciate them. Like a horse with blinders, many of us engage in a race to the top, and in this race, it is easy to stop noticing the daily occurrences of beauty around us. But if we do pause and pay attention, we will notice that flowers aren’t called nature’s work of art without good reason. With their beauty and grace, they give us many things to reflect and learn from. If only we can afford a little time to really pay attention, we will realize that from those delicate petals, we gain a respite, a teacher, and a language.

The option of islandwide delivery also saves one from having to lug a massive bouquet on board trains and buses (and attract curious stares in the process). Most importantly, with how busy people are, bouquet delivery saves one from having to take time out from work to personally collect and deliver the bouquet.

This Is What Flowers Mean To Me

A personal reflection of what flowers meant to a young working lady

Having me write this article might appear ironic — because I haven’t always had this much interest in flowers.

Unfortunately, growing up as the young unknowing girl that I was, I used to think flowers were for the frivolous and pretentious damsel. While I did acknowledge that flowers were easy on the eyes, my ‘interactions’ with florals and blooms were solely limited to basic sunflower Tumblr phone wallpapers and floral accessories. In my narrow worldview, sending flowers or flower delivery were simply economically unsustainable and its perceived benefits didn’t quite outweigh its costs enough for me to purchase them out of my own will.

From a romanticism point of view, it just didn’t quite make sense to cut these flowers off their stems prematurely (and effectively remove nature from nature) for the human benefit (our eyes??!!).
